A CT scan, or computed tomography scan, is an imaging tool used to see inside your body. This procedure combines X-ray energy with computer technology to create cross-sectional images.
Desert Orthopaedic Center provides specialized CT imaging of the foot and ankle. This service is performed at our Central Office location, which serves as the home to the only weight-bearing CT machine in southern Nevada.
Lower extremity CT scans are performed after a patient has experienced an injury to the foot or ankle. The images allow your doctor to study the soft tissue structures in relationship to bone.
CT scans are painless but time consuming. The patient stands in a cylinder-shaped scanner, and as the X-ray tube rotates around the patient's foot, sectional weight-bearing images are obtained. The images are reprocessed into a three-dimensional presentation of the foot and ankle and displayed on a monitor for your doctor to review.
Our surgeons and doctors at Desert Orthopaedic Center work with patients to provide the best possible care. We provide services such as lower extremity CT scans to ensure the most accurate diagnosis.
